Cancer Recovery Training with Asuka
Specialized oncology based training, built from personal experienceThese oncology based sessions are tailored for cancer survivors looking to regain quality of life and general wellbeing. Asuka holds the Thrive 5 Cancer Exercise Certification through Thrive Health Services and is part of the Thrive 5 Trainer network, and every program takes into account each client's diagnosis, surgery, ongoing care, and recovery timeline rather than following a generic plan.
His approachAsuka draws on his background in athletic training and chronic pain management, along with his knowledge of Vancouver's specialty clinics, to build a path forward that is unique to each client he works with.
Why this matters to him
This work is personal for Asuka. His mother in law's battle with cancer inspired him to create this service, and it shapes how he shows up for every client who walks through the door.
Who this is forThis program is for anyone currently in cancer treatment, recovering after treatment, or rebuilding strength and confidence in remission. There is no fitness level required to start. Sessions are built around where your body is right now, not where it used to be.
What working together looks like
Every program starts with a conversation about your diagnosis, treatment history, and current energy levels. Sessions focus on rebuilding strength, mobility, and stamina at a pace your body can sustain, with constant check ins along the way. Asuka works alongside your medical team rather than around them, and will flag when your doctor's clearance is a good idea.
A note on safetyThis is not a substitute for medical care. It is movement support designed to complement what your care team is already doing, led by a trainer certified specifically in how cancer and its treatment affect the body.

Frequently asked questions
-
Not always, but Asuka will ask about your diagnosis, treatment stage, and any restrictions before your first session and will suggest checking with your doctor when it makes sense. If your care team has already cleared you for movement, that is enough to get started.
-
Yes. Every session is private and one on one with Asuka, with the pace and programming built entirely around you.
-
Usually not. Many clients begin during treatment, and Asuka will adjust intensity around how you are feeling that day. He will always tell you honestly if it looks better to wait or check with your doctor first.
